Community Safety
Community Safety is about delivering local solutions to local problems that have been identified by local people.
Achieving community safety became a statutory requirement under the Crime & Disorder Act 1998. The Council work alongside their partners in order to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour to ensure that Brentwood remains a safe place in which to live and work.
Working in Partnership
Safer Brentwood, the Community Safety Partnership (formerly the Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership) was formed in order to provide a strategic and co-operative approach to identifying local priorities and problems within the Borough, and to tackle them. The partnership includes Brentwood Borough Council, Essex Police, Essex County Council, Health, Essex Police Authority, Essex Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Probation Service.
Strategic Assessment
It is a requirement of the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) to carry out an annual Strategic Assessment.
The aim of the Strategic Assessment sets out to establish an accurate picture of past, current and emerging trends of crime and disorder and risks that impact upon the Borough and the communities it serves. The results of the strategic assessment will provide a foundation for the future work for the partnership.
Ultimately, the aim of the Strategic Assessment is keeping Brentwood safe, ensuring that our community feels safe and that their fear of crime and their perception of crime decreases.
Our Priorities for 2013/14:
- Acquisitive Crime (concentrating on burglary and vehicle crime)
- Domestic Abuse
- Community Priorities (Anti-Social Behaviour/Engagement)
