SMS Text Reminders

Close up of a mobile phoneBrentwood Borough Council is running a scheme which aims to test the concept of using SMS text messages to improve the quality of service, by reminding customers of recycling days and changes to collection rounds.

  • Receive SMS text reminders the day before your recycling collection
  • Receive SMS text notifications of changes to your refuse or recycling collection

From 1st April 2013 Orange Sacks will be collected weekly and therefore text reminders will be sent fortnightly for Glass and Garden Waste collections.

To register, please complete the on line form SMS Text Service by entering your postcode and mobile telephone number.

Please Note: This offer is available to everyone on scheduled collection rounds, however at present it is not available to businesses.  To find out if your property is on a scheduled collection round please go to Find Your Collection Day

How does it work?

An automated message is sent to your mobile phone to remind you of your recycling day or alert you of any changes to the refuse service.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel by texting PQRX to 88802

How much will this cost me?

The text messaging service is all part of Brentwood Borough Council’s service to you.  However please check with your service provider for the cost of receiving text messages and in the event of cancelling the service, the cost of sending a text message.

Do I need to respond to the text message?

There is no need to send a response as the text message is simply a reminder.

What do I do if I move house or change my mobile number?

Firstly cancel your current subscription by texting PQRX to 88802, then re-register on line SMS Text Service and enter your new address or new mobile number and select YES when asked if you have previously unsubscribed from the service.

Will I receive marketing or junk texts from this?

No.  The service is totally confidential.  This service will not generate any other marketing or text messages to your phone and no other company or organisations will be given your number for marketing purposes.
